Overview
The American Heart Association's ACLS EP course is designed for experienced providers who are familiar with the ACLS guidelines and are comfortable with the basic ACLS skills. The course covers the same topics as the ACLS Provider course, but in greater depth and with more focus on advanced topics.
The ACLS EP course is divided into three parts: didactic instruction, skills practice, and scenario-based megacode stations. The didactic instruction covers the ACLS guidelines in greater depth, with a focus on the scientific rationale behind the guidelines. The skills practice stations allow participants to practice advanced skills such as intubation and defibrillation. The scenario-based megacode stations provide an opportunity to apply ACLS skills and algorithms in a realistic setting.
The ACLS EP course is designed to help participants improve their knowledge and skills so that they can provide better care to patients in cardiac arrest. The course is also intended to help participants prepare for the ACLS Provider examination.
