Overview
The Heartsaver CPR AED Skills Session is a course offered by the American Heart Association that covers the basics of CPR and AED use. The course is designed for those who want to learn how to perform CPR and use an AED, but do not need to become certified. The course covers the following topics:
- The importance of early CPR
- The difference between compressions and breaths
- The rate and depth of compressions
- When and how to use an AED
- The recovery position
The course is taught through a combination of lecture, video, and hands-on practice. Students will have the opportunity to practice CPR on a manikin and use an AED on a simulated victim. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card.
